The Benefits of Dry Brushing
Dry-brushing is one of those rare things that feels just as good when you do it yourself as when someone else does it to you, and it’s incredibly easy to incorporate into your routine. Most experts recommend dry-brushing in the morning, rather than before bed, because they believe it has energizing qualities.
Some main qualities seen from dry brushing include:
- Stimulating and draining the lymphatic system
- Exfoliating the skin
- Detoxing the skin and body
- Increasing circulation and energy
- Helping to break down cellulite
If you’re looking for a fun and relaxing way to regenerate your skin, soften you up, and give yourself a glow from the inside out, picking up the few things you need to start dry brushing is a must!
How-To’s of Dry Brushing:
Dry brushing requires just a few simple things and some dedication to a routine.
What you’ll need:
- A medium-soft cactus bristle brush (or medium natural fiber brush)
- Body oil
To do it yourself, start at your feet and brush upward toward the heart. Similarly, when you start on your arms, begin at the hands and work upward. Use firm, small strokes upward, or work in a circular motion. For the stomach, work in a clockwise direction.
Harsh exfoliation is never the point, and so be sure not to press too hard or use a brush that’s too stiff.
Dedicate at least three to five minutes to brushing.
