The one skincare product that everyone must have in their routine is sunscreen! ☀️
Sunscreen is super important because it can prevent a lot of skin concerns that we're all worried about: premature signs of aging, hyperpigmentation, sun spots, sun burns, and even skin cancer (!) just to name a few!
When it comes down to choosing between a chemical or physical sunscreen, keep in mind that both types work by absorbing UV rays and turning them into heat.
"If both versions do the same thing, what should I be choosing then?"
We’ve noticed most dermatologists typically recommend physical (aka mineral) sunscreen with traditional ingredients such as zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. These filters sit on top of your skin and deflect more UV rays.
Plus - They're also more sensitive-skin friendly!
Some physical sunscreen can leave a white-cast, but there are also great formulas out there that don't! When in doubt, go for the tinted version.
Here are some known benefits of chemical sunscreens:
When it comes to the chemical versions, you can have more UV filter options with chemical sunscreens (especially ones from the EU, Korea, or Japan!). These sunscreens are more elegantly formulated, spread more easily and evenly, and don't usually leave a white-cast ✨
At the end of the day, it doesn't matter which you end up going with - try both! The important thing is that your sunscreen is at least SPF 30, works for your skin, and is comfortable enough to wear every day 👏
